Munsyari is on the arterial water body of Gori Ganga which emerges from Milam Glacier system of the eastern flanks of Nanda Devi sanctuary, fed also by the Kalabandar Glacier and Panchachuli from further east . Munsyari is base for Milam and Ralam glacier .

Milam Glacier

The start of the trek to the glacier takes one 12 kms. along the Gori River to Lilam village . Then trekking, 13 kms. through thick forests , followed by a steep climb , one reaches Bagudyar at 2,509 meters. The next trek is 12 kms. to Railkot . A furhter 17 kms. will bring you to Milam Village . On this trek you can see the Longstaff Col , the Eastern and Main peaks of Nanda Devi , Hardeval Peak . From the village to Glacier is 5 kms. The Milam Glacier , at 4,242 meters, receives the snow and ice from a number of lesser glaciers. These flow down in slow, glittering, streams along the tributary valley.

From Bagudiyar one can trek 12 kms. to reach Ralam Glacier .
